Gerald Gardner's Book of Shadows delineates eight different methods of creating magick. The eighth path, "the Great Rite" is a ritual act of sexual intercourse between two people, usually the High Priestess & High Priest of the coven, representing the Goddess & God. The Great Rite can be enacting symbolically (usually with a chalice and athame) as well as "in Actual." This video covers the history and origins of the Great Rite, the Hieros Gamos "sacred marriage" archetype, Drawing Down the Moon & Sun (aspecting the Goddess or God through oneself, a form of trance channelling,) the "left hand path" of Tantra, the Gnostic Mass, Western sex magick, and sacred prostitution as a holy path of the Goddess. http://sablearadia.webs.com Music Credits: "Drawing Down the Moon" by Gaia Consort, "Fairy Dances" by Elven.
