The Threads That Bind Us

Song originally written by Eric Bogle 1976. Recorded by Sable 11/11/11 in honour of Remembrance Day. I have included photos and vintage footage from WWI to tell the story, which I can't listen to without it breaking my heart. The bugle piece at the beginning is "The Last Post," traditionally played at infantry funerals for those unaware, and the bagpipe piece at the end is an excerpt from "The Flowers of the Forest;" traditionally played at all sorts of military funerals, especially in the former UK; both pieces are mentioned in the lyrics of the song. This song will appear on my upcoming "Pyrates and Pagans" album.
